What does a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant do for you?

A lawyer registered with the Law Society of a Canadian province or territory and one Immigration Consultant licensed by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants advise and represent you before Immigration Canada (IRCC).

Immigrate to Canada.

Help your family immigrate to Canada.

Obtaining Canadian Citizenship once you have met the requirements. 

Assist you in your application for asylum or refuge once you are in Canada.

Know if you qualify for a Visitor Visa or ETA.

Assistance in applying for your study or work permit.

Extension of immigration status in Canada or obtaining legal status for people in Canada irregularly or without immigration status.

Avoid deportation for people ordered deported from Canada.

Determine if you can obtain permanent residence through the following pathways:

  3. Atlantic Immigration Program.

What does an Immigration Consultant do?

A Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant is a professional with a university degree and a Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law provided by Queen  University (English) or the University of Montreal (French).

The applicant must be of legal age to obtain a license in this regulated profession.

To qualify, you must: 

  1. Be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada.

  2. Have passed English or French tests to demonstrate your required language level (if applicable).

  3. You must have an excellent reputation with no criminal record in Canada and/or any other country where you reside.

  4. Not have been declared bankrupt.

  5. Have passed the College Entry-to-Practice Exam (RCIC EPE).

  6. A Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) is required to complete 16 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) annually. 

  7. Pay the annual fee to comply with the membership. 

The College Entry-to-Practice Exam (RCIC EPE) consists of a knowledge test that tests the capacity to apply the legislation, regulations, procedures, professional ethics, and specific responsibilities of immigration and Canadian citizenship.

Once the person has been granted a license from the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants, he is qualified to advise people interested in immigrating to Canada.

An Immigration Consultant knows the immigration laws and procedures, but an immigration consultant is not a lawyer.

An Immigration Consultant may provide legal services or advice only in immigration matters, not other areas.
