Can I pretend to work, study or immigrate to Canada if I know some English or French?

Gladly, the Canadian Immigration systems let some people achieve their Canadian dreams despite medium or low language skills.

For example, Canada relaxed language requirements for Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) applicants outside Express Entry. Therefore, language tests might not be required for some PNP applications.

On the other hand, for the Atlantic Immigration Program, the minimum score depends on the NOC 2021 TEER category of your job offer:

  • CLB 5 for job offer in TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3

  • CLB 4 for job offer in TEER 4

For the Rural and Northern Immigration program, your language skills are based on your job offer.

For example, the minimum language requirements for each NOC category are:

  • TEER 0 and 1: CLB/NCLC 6

  • TEER 2 and 3: CLB/NCLC 5

  • TEER 4 and 5: CLB/NCLC 4

Are you planning to study instead?

Each Canadian institution has its language requirements for studying in a Canadian college or university, and the language skills are based on the type of study.
